What We Believe

What Graceland Believes

God:

God is the creator and ruler of everything. He is eternal and exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ:

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Jesus is coequal with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. Jesus arose from the dead on the third day to show his power over sin and death. He returned to heaven and will return again soon to reunite believers with God the father and to rule and judge the earth as King. Jesus is the only way for people to have a right relationship with God.

The Holy Spirit:

The Holy Spirit is coequal with God the Father and Jesus, the Son of God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their depravity and need for a right relationship with the Father. This right relationship can only be found through Jesus. The Holy Spirit gives the believer power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and direction in doing what is right. He gives every believer spiritual gifts when they experience salvation. He empowers believers with a post-salvation experience of purity, holiness and mission to reach his lost children who have yet believed.

The Bible:

The Bible is God’s word to us. We believe the Old and New Testaments were verbally inspired by God. It was written down by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth.

People:

People are made in the image of God. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has great potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. Sin separates us from God and causes many problems in our life. Man is totally depraved and of himself utterly unable to fix or remedy his lost condition.

Salvation:

Salvation is God’s gift to us through grace, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith, we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

Eternity:

People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union and right relationship with him is eternal life in Heaven. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence.

The Church:

We believe that Graceland is a living spiritual family. We are a community of believers who are united in worship, committed in supporting each other in personal and relational spiritual growth, intentional in building relationships with God’s lost kids, and “gracefully” patient with everyone in the process of finding and growing in relationship with Jesus Christ. We have agreed to allow all people time to investigate, meet, grow, and to become a genuine follower of Jesus Christ.
